Catherine Scott - Women at Stronger Than Fiction

July 23, 2018

Catherine Scott is an Australian director, writer and producer with a long career in documentary for television. An executive producer on Dateline (SBS) and other shows internationally, her previous features include The Scarlett Road and Selling Sickness. We are delighted to have Scott as our guest for the festival, presenting a Q and A session after the screening of The Backtrack Boys.

The Backtrack Boys is Scott's latest feature - Winner of the Audience Award at the Sydney Film Festival 2018. The film is a deeply moving study of three Aussie boys who join an extraordinary outback program as a way of staying out of jail.

Just outside Armidale, NSW at a youth program called BackTrack, Bernie offers unconditional support and a last chance for troubled kids to pursue their dreams. We follow Zack, Russell and Alfie as they travel to rural shows with Bernie’s dog jumping team. It’s a rollercoaster ride as we share the challenges these boys face as they try to find their place in the world.
